Customer Reviews:
Disappointingly blandAugust 12, 2008 My initial impression of this new customized edition of the venerable Monopoly game -- theme du jour, the Beatles -- is less than fab. Compared to other special Monopoly editions, this one seems slap-dash and unimaginative, with fewer in-jokes and wit. I'm afraid Apple took the easy way and treated this as nothing so much as a slick promo for the Beatles' back catalog -- the game components seem drawn mainly from album covers, the same old pictures and titles we've known for all these years. There's not much sparkle in this pedestrian presentation, it's not at all the romp I was expecting from the first official Beatles boardgame in over 40 years. Hmmph. All those visuals and lyrics and imagery and creativity to draw from, and this dull product was the best (or least controversial) treatment they could do? I used to work as a game designer in the hobby game industry -- I'd design a better Beatles Monopoly game than this in two weeks and charge nothing, just to see this project done properly. Call me, Hasbro! I do like the Rocky Raccoon token, however.
