Customer Reviews:
Wonderful "Learning Resource" August 23, 2008 First, this is a very high quality toy. The peg board is made of thick heavy hardwood. The pegs are sturdy. The colors are bright and the shapes align perfectly and slide smoothly onto the pegs. Great for Montessori or Waldorf kids!
Next, the age recommended age for this toy is 3 years. This seems to be accurate. I purchased this for my 22 month old, but it was immediately apparent that lining up the holes with the pegs was frustrating him. I tried to hide the toy until he was older, but he kept asking to play with it. We have owned this for about 1 week now, and he likes to identify the shapes and colors (which he already knew), and has learned to identify facial expression emotions from this toy. He is getting better at placing the shapes on the pegs and and identifying the number of holes on each shape, but the challenge is still a bit frustrating to him. This toy would probably be best suited for a child close to the age of 3, but with some practice a younger child could enjoy it as well.
