great price , big heatsink no noise - 500mhz not 450 like the descrpDecember 3, 2008 This card is 500mhz core clock , the description for some reason says 450mhz... The card has a big heat sink and no fan which is great for keeping the computer quiet.
Price point is great , its a directx 10 Vista compatible card. May not be a gamer card but if your not building a gamer rig and just need a pc that vista happy and still is great for video use then its hard to beat the price point of the card.
addressed what I wantedNovember 24, 2008 I'm not a gamer -- my old video card was just very loud. This one works fine for business use (dual monitor) and is quiet.
not a good gaming cardOctober 13, 2008 if you plan on running on anything bigger than a 17" monitor, this card is not for you. Runs very hot, and not worth the money to buy 2 and sli when you could spend a little extra for the 8800gts which is a 10x better card.
Very quietOctober 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is only $5 more than the 8500gt with a fansink and it is much quieter.
I didn't realize how much noise was coming from my video card fan until I installed this card.
Great Card for the MoneySeptember 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've thrown everything in Valve's Orange Box at this, including HL2: Lost Coast with High Dynamic Range lighting, and it worked perfectly.
In addition to gaming, it renders text and movies great, and displays colors and shadows far more accurately than my onboard Intel chipset. Couldn't ask for more.
