This housing's main body, bracket and sunshield is constructed of extruded aluminum, and fastenings, wall fixings and locking clips are made of stainless steel. The view plate is made of glass rather than plastic, so is easier to clean and is scratch resistant. The IP65 (Ingress Protection) rating means this unit has a protection level of six against solid-body ingress, and a protection level of five against the ingress of water. Six is the top protection level against solid bodies, meaning the 290B is certified dust proof. A protection level of five against water ingress means this unit will protect your camera even against strong water jets coming from any direction. The internal heater in this housing will allow your camera to operate in temperatures from twenty-below-zero to 42-degrees Celsius.
