Wonderful Pot for Oven or Stove TopNovember 30, 2008 We received this pot as a wedding gift from our wedding registry and it's the best all-purpose pot I've ever had! It's versatile and easy to clean, which I love. We even baked our Thanksgiving turkey breast in this pot and it turned out wonderfully. The only downside is that it's a little heavy (like most pots this size) so keep that in mind if you have arthritis or problems lifting. We hope to get more pots from this line to complete our set since they seem durable and will last a long time.
Great buy!October 30, 2008 I love it! Why didn't someone think of this before? An oval pot for pasta! Of course you can cook other things as well, but the unique shape is terrific. This one looks great, too. The handles set it off very nicely, and the venting holes in the lid give it the crowning touch. I'm very pleased.
Rachael Ray Strikes Again!August 19, 2008 ****11/16
Okay, I'm not a big fan of product hawked by celebs, but RR could sell me a push pop in the dead of winter - and my wife loves the show. (Obviously, we watch Rache for different reasons!) One day while watching RR cook her pasta my wife remarked how cool she thought the pot was. Hopeless romantic that I am, I made a mental note of it and checked the FN website for the exact item. After finding the make and model I surfed the web for pricing and availability and found an Amazon vendor had the best price AND free DHL shipping. Woo-hoo for cheapo me!
Oh yeah, what about the pot. As cheap as I am, I *have* splurged for some name-brand cookware like Calphalon and this pot. You know what? It's true what they say, having the right tools makes the job go smoother. This pot allows all KINDS and SHAPES of pasta to be cooked without having to break it down, including lasagna noodles. It is well balanced and the vent holes work well to let you know when the water is boiling without having to constantly open the lid (a bad habit of mine). The pour spout allows for quick drainage while allowing the lid to stay intact, saving the pasta from the sink drain (much to my dog's chagrine). The "non-safety cone orange handle" version (i.e. e.g. black) looks great too. The pot also is handy for cooking all sorts of other foods, like capusel, haggas, and chicken lips. (Seriously though, it IS good for other foods.) All-in-all a well-made piece of cooking equipment that is worth the price. My only qualm (and the reason for not-quite-5-stars): it seems to take FOREVER for water to boil in this thing! (I cook on propane, don't know if that matters, but if you have patience - I don't my family will attest - then this baby's a homerun!) GQS I, Last, and Only
Great potJuly 6, 2008 We really like this pot - I bought it to boil pasta, but have used it to make chili and other large quantity foods. I love the handles on the pot and the lid that make it so easy to work with since they don't get hot. The pot itself is a nice size to large quantities and because it is wide instead of high, there's a lot more surface area to heat up quickly.
I totally recommend this pot to everyone.
Spaghetti Night SimplicityApril 25, 2008 It may sound silly, but I hate making spaghetti in a regular round pasta pot, it just does not fit correctly. This oval pasta pat makes spaghetti, lazagne or any long pasta with ease. Great weight of anodized aluminum and nice handles. I like this color much better than the orange version. This is a great pot!
