WORKED IN MY OLD MICROWAVE, BUT NOT MY NEW ONEJanuary 3, 2009 I used to have a 700 watt microwave and when I cooked my pasta in this it always came out perfect. I got a new 1000 watt microwave recently and even after adjusting the power to 70% and trying numerous different times to cook in it, now my pasta no longer cooks properly. It always comes out gooey on the outside and hard in the middle now, or it comes out all goo if I try and cook it a little longer. I've tried everything. Different power settings, different times, different pastas to no avail. I really liked this pasta cooker AT FIRST--but not anymore!!! The instruction booklet is of no help whatsoever. What a disappointment.
Great Pasta N MoreDecember 28, 2008 Very nice product! It really does the job that it is intended for. I make pasta all the time and this little baby does the job!
Absolutely terribleDecember 27, 2008 I figured this would be a fine way to cook pasta without using the stove. It sounded so nice to be able to set the microwave, walk away, and come back to cooked pasta.
While the pasta was cooked, it had a distinct plastic taste to it. Even though I followed the directions and washed it, used it in the microwave for 10 minutes with water in it, and then put it in the dishwasher, the smell and the taste did not go away.
Not only that, I became very ill after eating pasta from it. There honestly was nothing else that could have caused such terrible stomach problems except for the pasta.
This is just one of thousands of products that are made in China that are undoubtedly coated with toxins and shipped to us without our knowledge. I think I'll stick to watching water boil on the stove from now on.
I put it in the recycling bin, and hopefully, it'll be more useful there.
Save yourself the money and the hassle, and just cook pasta like you normally do. Believe me, you're not missing anything except terrible pasta, terrible stomach cramps, and terrible digestive issues.
