This authentic steel cut Irish oatmeal cooks in just 5 minutes, not the 30 minutes it takes to cook regular steel cut oats. Unique nutty flavor and hearty texture.
MCCann's steel cut oatsJune 8, 2008 I have been eating this oatmeal every day for nearly three years. I never tire of it but sometimes top it with fresh fruit. My husband also eats this and no longer needs to take a cholesterol lowering drug. His doctor couldn't believe the significant drop in cholesterol. However, I find the "wholesale" price for Amazon is not very good. I can buy this for $3.99 at the most expensive grocery store in town. Ordering six of them from Amazon adds up to a little bit over $5.00 for the same size can.
Great Oatmeal!June 1, 2008 Very high quality oatmeal. This fine-cut oat cooks quickly, while preserving the best qualities of oatmeal. I cook it in a small rice cooker, which is incredibly good at cooking unattended oatmeal (with better things to do first thing in the morning)!
Tasty alternative to boring Quaker OatsMay 30, 2008 This quick-cooking, genuine steel-cut oatmeal imported from Ireland is a more flavorful alternative to your traditional rolled domestic oats. The container is handy, too!
Nutritious, Delicious, AND Convenient from McCann's...April 5, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having been a Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats fan for years, I was not particularly looking for a replacement, but I had read about steel cut oats and wanted to give them a try. I bought some at a health food store, and I was not too impressed mostly due to the fact that to cooking time was so much more than regular oatmeal. I happened onto the McCann's Quick and Easy product on Amazon, and ordered some for a trial.
I concur with all the five star opinions about the texture, convenience, and taste. In six minutes (five minutes cooking, one minute post cooking wait) with conventional stove top cooking, you can have a perfect breakfast. I like mine with a little maple syrup and butter. You cannot beat the product or the price offered by Amazon.
Very Good OatmealMarch 22, 2008 I like this Quick and Easy version of McCann's Irish Oatmeal, but I must admit that once you have had the traditional version it is hard to go back!!
