Product Description Product DescriptionCompact, lightweight and a wide magnification range - this standard zoom lens features a wide focal length range from normal to telephoto equivalent to 29-320mm in the 35mm format. It features an Optical Image Stabilizer for up to 4-stops of effective correction even at full zoom. Since Canon's optical image stabilization system is in the lens, not in the camera, you can see the stabilized, steadier images through the viewfinder. And the circular aperture can give beautiful background blur effects.

Outstanding lens and packageNovember 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great lens and package. Pricing will probably drop after Christmas, but for now the price was lowest given the included goodies/
The lens performs well. NO, it's not an "L" series, (and I have 3) but it's now my walk-about lens. For other then low light situations (f/3.5-5.6) it does a very nice job.
There are some reviews online for an indepth review that go into all the specs. As an overvirew though, I can say it does a very nice job and is worth the $$$.
Want the same 18-200mm at a lower cost? Get the Sigma 18-200mm. (f/3.5-6.3 , 1 less stop) and not as good a build but it does a good job as well. (My sister has this lens)
UPDATE: This Canon is one great lens. Above I referenced the Sigma. Proof that the Canon is superior is shown in that since Canon released thier 18-200mm lens, there has been dramatic price drop Sigma's version . It's down to 1/2 the price of the Canon. A great buy if you don't need top end quality.
