Amazon.com This big, fat theatrical bomb has a lot going for it. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. There's music, special effects, and magic. There's a surprisingly horror-filled plot. Whoops, hold up on that last one. It's probably the extremes that this film goes to (displaying a Disney label), such as the witches sucking the life out of a little girl in the first five minutes, that put the brakes on any success for Hocus Pocus. Older children, however, in the 8 and up range should get a kick out of all the weird goings-on. It's a good measure of Halloween thrills and chills. --Keith Simanton

Hocus Pocus November 19, 2008 This is a movie my children loved growing up and we have been looking for. We really enjoyed it.
Lovable characters and thankfully, Halloween without horror! November 17, 2008 Love the witches! They are not green (one is even pretty) and although there is some wickedness, their bumbling behavior is a grand improvement over most Hollywood-evil portrayals of witchcraft. This movie is fun Halloween fare without bloody, gory, massacres! I can watch this story year-round for Bette Midler's comedic genius and certain scenes are tender enough to bring a tear to my eye every time.
Fabulous movie November 12, 2008 With Bette Midler and the other witchy girls, what's not to love. Fun story and great for children too. We make sure to watch every October.
Hocus Pocus November 12, 2008 My 5 year old grandson loved it as much as I did when it come out.
Funny But November 12, 2008 The movie overall was enjoyable but not too good for kids. One must question in a day of STD's, teen pregnancy, and broken teen hearts why Disney thought it appropriate to villify virginity at least three times.
