5 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the T.V. broadcasting station massacre   December 21, 2008
The killing here is brutal.I love the scene in my title, everyone gets slaughtered, from the grips and P.A.'S to the dancers on the set.You just have to love the wax molding and red corn syrup special effects they used back in the day(excessively,I might add in this one).If you like gore in abundance with your violence, gratuitous nudity and laughable english dubbing then you will have fun with this one.Over the top cheeziness, perhaps overkill but in such a great way that any gorehound that can also appreciate sleaze will need to have in their collection.Perhaps the epitome of the aforementioned traits that make a grade A primo schlock horror.Picture quality is good too in the transfer to DVD.

3 out of 5 stars 46 reviews show that this movie is worth viewing   September 18, 2008
This is a movie you either like or hate. It's a bloodbath of radioactively infected people who attack and slaughter people for their blood. One thing that is very different here and not explained really is that there is a infection spreading from the zombies and not everyone they kill rises from the dead. Most victims just seem to get murdered and then stay dead. So it seems that the infected rot away and attack while the people they kill stay dead. but the infected can't be killed by any thing but fire or a bullet to the head. This is NOT the worst zombie movie ever made , they spent some money on this one. There are zombie movies out there that they filmed with a hand camera using vhs tape!
anyways I thought this movie was a good gore fest from the wonderful early 80's a time of a explosion of europeon and american horror as a powerful force. Italian horror is almost extinct these days. Anyways if you like zombie movies you can do alot worse than this one. This one is directed by the good italian director umberto lenzi and that's another plus for this flick.

1 out of 5 stars Possibly the worst zombie movie I ever seen   July 28, 2008
Honestly, I don't know what I consider to be the worst zombie movie I seen. But if I was asked next week what I consider to be the worst. It will definitly be this one. I hate this movie. And I hate it for one reason. The zombies... and thats all there is to it.

I have a lot to get off my chest with this abomination. Now the zombies. I do not live and die by the traditional zombie. I don't mind a bit of change. But somethings should never be lifted. And a zombies crave for flesh should always remain intact. This drinking blood deal is out of line. But the part I find overly stupid is the zombies using weapons to get the blood. Such as guns and knives. I mean, these are some resourceful and highly skilled zombies. And talk about highly skilled... damn, one scene has a group of zombies draw out a soldier. And they jump him by strangling him with rope. What happened to the animalistic behavior consisting of football tackles, biting, clawing, ripping, and tearing? And yes, it gets sillier. Another zombie threw the meanest right hook knockin a dude out cold. Atleast one scene was cool though. Some chick fell from the helicopter over the amusement park. And hit all the bars from the rollercoaster on her way down. I will admit, that part had me on the floor.

The gore wasn't all that great. If you seen one stabbing or gunshot to the head. You seen them all. But one scene does stand out above them all concerning an eyeball. That was sick.

This movie just wasn't for me. It was not fun and I was getting angrier by the minute. This is for those who find enjoyment in many things and are far more openminded than me. If you're a diehard zombie fan like I am. And must see everything zombie related. Then you'll most likely watch this anyway.

2 out of 5 stars This is not a zombie movie people   July 1, 2008

A plane shows up with some radioactive people that run around killing people. That's basically the plot of the film. All in all this is a pretty mediocre movie, even by Italian schlock standards. One point I'd like to make: People often comment that the "zombies" in this movie are unusually fast. Well, that's because, like 28 Days Later, they're not zombies! They're infected people that are hard to kill, but they didn't rise from the dead. By the way, the dumb twist ending that people have always complained about was lifted directly from Invaders from Mars.

1 out of 5 stars a generic zombie movie that essentially goes nowhere   June 28, 2008

A radioactive spill contaminates people at some nuclear plant, somehow they all get on board some plane which lands in the city which then gets invaded by them. The rest of the story follows a reporter who's trying to escape from the city with his wife. There's almost no character development so you never really connect with these characters.

There's an interview with the director Umberto Lenzi, he comes across as conceited with a touch of inferiority complex. He gets all defensive and talks about how great his special effects are and how "Americans" are jealous of his creativity. He also complains about problems with his producer and then specifically mentions she was a woman, I don't know why he would do that other than for sexist reasons.

Nightmare City is just one of those movies that uses lots of gore to try to scare people, but imo its too fake looking to have that effect. If you want to watch zombie movies with better stories I suggest Night of the Living Dead and The Last Man On Earth.
