I'm getting sick of this...October 8, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been a solid Amazon supporter for many years, but I'm really pissed that when I do a search on SIMPSONS and ELEVENTH I don't have BOTH sets at the top of my results list. I hate these stupid "Limited Edition" box sets. This page doesn't obviously identify this item as being the limited edition version. It should be right in the item title. I'll be filling out my return request right after this. If the other review is correct and the non-limited edition costs more than the limited edition, my Simpsons DVD collection might just be ending at season ten.
Still Going...October 8, 2008 The Simpsons is, hands down, one of the best television shows in history. Personally, I refer to it as an animated sitcom rather than just a cartoon though beginning in this season, the show does begin to fall apart due to negligent, uncreative, ignorant writing leaving us with extremely sterilized episodes.... Much as how SNL hasn't been funny for years and feels very sterile... The same happens to the Simpsons beginning with this season.
Personally, I believe the show has a lot of potential left but am convinced it is the poor writing staff who don't seem to care and I'm going to hate the first Sunday when The Simpsons is no longer apart of the Fox Sunday Night Line Up. I pray we may get a decent writing team and better producers before such a thing happens.
Regardless of the top there, I'm writing this review to condemn the packaging. There is much to be said about the season itself as there are some good episodes and some terrible, but the packaging here is a major issue.
As others have pointed out, you get a cheap, paper fold-out thing that has the DVDs stuck in little sleeves that you have to pull out with your fingers getting the disc smudged (from your fingers) and scratched (from the cheap paper). I'm going to be immediately ripping these discs to my computer to stream to the television as it takes a good 2 minutes to remove any of the discs from the case and no matter how careful you are, damage will be done.
I have to this get a single star. The season itself deserves about a three but the packaging alone compels me to one-star. It shouldn't require minutes and unavoidable disc damage to watch these episodes. Very disappointed. This whole packaging, I have to wonder how it was conceived as no matter how you think about it, what were they thinking? There is no way this could've ever worked without damage to the discs and an extreme inconvenience.
Great show, crappy boxOctober 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'll say it right out, THIS PACKAGING IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the actual "box" box, so I don't know about the krusty head box, but this packaging is terrible! It's like a cardboard foldout thingy and the discs are in these little sleeves. Immediatly after I took out disc one for watching, the sleeve ripped. I thing I'll end up buying a zip up CD holder for these and taping the picture on the front or something.
But the shows are FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Shows...Awful boxOctober 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love the episodes in the series, but the box if awful. I actually had to cut each flap to get the dvd's out. They weren't scratched too badly, but I can see that they would have been if I had left them in there. There is a real problem if the box is so tight that you can't get your dvd's out.
Retarded BOX ! Worst packaging in the history of DVD !October 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the worst packaging EVER.
The heads were bad but at lest the DVD's were protected inside. This is the worst thing ever. The box cannot be put on the shelf with the other seasons due to the irregular shape. Inside the box, the DVD's are in cardboard sleeves. My whole package is scratched out of the box. They should fire the guy(s) who had these ideas.
