Almost GreatDecember 3, 2008 Right out of the box there were problems.
I have a Mac, so the CD was of no use to me. I also live in an apartment building so there are too many signals to use the auto-find feature.
Instead of pulling my hair out, I just called the toll free number on the back of the box. While the person on the other end of the line had a tenuous grasp on the English language, she certainly knew how to get my router up and running. After 20 minutes, I had a signal blasting everywhere in my apartment.
The only complaint with this product is that it didn't work right out of the box, but if you are willing to humble yourself and call support right off the bat, you won't have to waste the hours mentioned by other reviewers.
Not so untypical deviceDecember 1, 2008 I was expecting the worst after reading some of these reviews. But considering this device did everything I wanted, I ordered it anyway. First off, the instructions are really geared for someone with at least a basic understanding of wireless networking. The quick start guide doesn't work unless you have all security turned off on your network. If you are trying to set this up as a range extender for your network it really is pretty easy to do. Of course you'll spend a half hour trying to understand the instructions. They could be written much better. Even so, the device works very well once configured and I am pleased I made the purchase.
However, be aware of this: The setup software is NOT VISTA COMPATIBLE. Belkin has no intentions to change this either. So if you plan to set this up manually through your browser you'll be OK. BUT is you planned to use the included software to run the configuration application, you'll be out of luck if your on Vista.
Belkin Wireless GNovember 29, 2008 I received the item in good time but upon receiving the item i found that it was defective. I was very dissatified with the fact that I had to pay $11.91 to return it to Belkin for a replacement. The item was supposed to be brand new when I received it.
Belkin F5D7132 Installation with Security EnabledNovember 27, 2008 I rated the overall performance of the Belkin F5D7132 with 4 stars. It does a good job of extending the range of my wireless network to the back of my house. However, I would rate the Belkin customer support and written instructions on connecting with security enabled network as horrible. Both stunk. After being transferred around the Belkin customer support line, being hung up on three times I finally was transferred to "level 2" to figure out how to set up the unit to talk with my security enabled router. While on hold I figured it out myself but wasted two and a half hours trying to get someone to help. If you are going to try this, ask immediately to be transferred to "level 2" and start from there since the level 1 had as hard a time reading and understanding the included instructions as I did. They knew nothing else.
Belkin f5d7132 wireless-g range extenderNovember 25, 2008 This product worked for me only after connecting it to the wireless laptop via network cable and installing provided software.
