Customer Reviews:
great price for what you getSeptember 6, 2008 the highly glossy screen DOES create some contrast issues. it looks the brightest if viewed from a higher angle than where the monitor rests. if you have a workspace set up to lower the monitor, all of the extra contrast seems to vanish.
i have found that the contrast can work in my favor if calibrated. Games like Crysis at 1920 (settings:very high) look amazing. The Colours and brightness of this monitor cannot be matched at price.
i have this monitor combined with a matted viewsonic 1600x1200 (VP201b) turned vertically. i save web browsing for the vertical matte screen and games and movies for the shiny gloss screen. any lower quality videos end up looking better from a lower angle due to the heightened contrast.
it might seem like a trade off at first, but its more of an adjustment of how you view certain things. i feel the extra contrast given by a lower viewing angle provides an advantage for me
Flashy but not the best monitorJuly 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I liked the look of this monitor in the store, although I wasn't too sure about the glossy finish. I was hooked on the Picture-in-Picture though. Unfortunately I wasn't thorough enough before buying, and the monitor has color issues, when it is on my desk my eyes are level with a point about 1/4 the way from the bottom of the screen and about 2 feet away. From there I see a definite color change in the top 3 inches of the screen, and on some games the detail there just vanishes into darkness. If I stand up over the monitor it seems much better and more uniform, but seated it just doesn't look right. I think I'll try to take this back and get a Dell...
Extremely poor monitorJuly 28, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Had read a lot of great reviews of the Gateway 2400 24 inch monitor. Mistakenly thought this was a newer version of that monitor that would be even better.
This monitor has a glossy and reflective screen. Some may like this aspect but I personally prefer the matte finish of monitors.
The colors and brightness on the monitor change depending on the location of the graphics on the display. For example, if you are looking at the monitor from a fixed position at your desk then the image at the top of the screen looks quite a bit different from the image at the bottom of the screen.
I returned the monitor after less than one hour of use.
